How to Get More Customers for Your Business
Getting more customers isn't about doing more marketing. It starts with how your business is positioned, understood, and remembered.

Every business owner wants more customers. And when sales slow down, we tend to panic a little. Post more. Run an ad. Change the offer. Start posting on another platform.
Basically, do something. đ
But after years of working in marketing and sales, Iâve noticed something: a lot of businesses donât have a customer problem. They have a positioning problem.
People may already be seeing the business. They donât immediately understand why they should choose it.
Start with what youâre selling
If a potential customer lands on your website or sees your content, can they quickly tell what you do, who itâs for, what problem you solve and why they should choose you?
If they have to investigate your business before understanding it, youâve already made the buying process harder.
And no, adding more words doesnât necessarily fix it. Sometimes, you need to say the thing better.
Stop trying to sell to everyone
I know. It sounds nice to say your product is âfor everyone.â
But when your message is aimed at everyone, it often becomes so broad that nobody feels particularly spoken to.
You donât need to exclude people. You need to know who youâre trying to attract first.
Specific messages are easier to recognise, easier to remember and easier to act on.
Being visible isnât enough
This is one of my favourite marketing conversations.
You can post every day and still be forgettable.
You can have thousands of followers and still struggle to generate enquiries.
Because attention is not the same thing as demand.
If five businesses in your industry are saying almost the same thing, getting more eyes on your content wonât automatically make you the obvious choice.
You need something people can associate with you: your point of view, your positioning, your way of explaining the problem and your offer.
That is what makes a brand easier to remember.
Donât ignore people who already showed interest
A potential customer asked about your service. They visited your website. They sent you a DM. They even said, âIâll get back to you.â
That conversation isnât necessarily dead.
People get distracted. Budgets change. Priorities change. A decision can take longer than expected.
This is where marketing and sales need to work together.
Marketing gets attention. Sales moves the conversation forward.
Neither one is supposed to sit in a corner pretending the other doesnât exist. đ
So, how do you get more customers?
Start by looking at the whole journey.
Can people find you? Do they understand you? Do they remember you? Do they have a reason to choose you? Is it easy to take the next step?
Before spending more money on ads or posting three times a day, look at the parts of that journey that arenât working.
And if youâre not sure how your business currently looks from the outside, you can start with The Read.
It gives you a fresh look at your offer and how youâre showing up online.
Because you donât always need more attention.
You need to give the attention you already have somewhere to go.
